The Roast and Toast of John Hutchinson
Northwest Florida is home to hundreds of public relations practitioners who create and manage organizational communications for multiple industries and companies. Celebrating the spirit of the profession, the Pensacola Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association is honoring John Hutchinson, general manager, Corporate Services for Gulf Power Company, June 19, at “Hurricanes and Crawfish: The Roast and Toast of John Hutchinson.” The event takes place at Heritage Hall next to Seville Quarter starting at 6 p.m.
With more than 20 years experience, Hutchinson has worked extensively with local, regional and national news media developing strong community relationships to help Gulf Power successfully manage many public issues. In addition to his professional talents, Hutchinson is very active in the community, representing Gulf Power Co. in many different venues, from making frequent public presentations to serving on community/civic boards and task forces.
Hosted by Academy of Country Music Personalities of the Year Brent Lane and Dana Cervantes from the Cat Pak Morning Show on Cat Country 98.7, the evening will include Cajun cuisine, entertainment and a silent auction. And, of course, a “Roast and Toast” of Hutchinson and his accomplishments over the years. Special roasters include Jerry Mistretta, owner of Jerry’s Cajun Café; Don Parker, WCOA radio personality; Sue Straughn, WEAR TV 3 anchor; and City of Pensacola Mayor Mike Wiggins.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Public Relations Program at the University of West Florida.

Join Us For Our June Meeting
The Pensacola Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association will hold its next chapter meeting on Thursday, June 18 at the Pensacola Civic Center.
Speaking to the group will Jim McClellan, President and primary public relations consultant for Southern Solutions. McClellan has more than 22 years' experience in the fields of public relations, issue development, crisis communications and media training. He also specializes in copywriting and public campaign development. Before starting his own company, McClellan worked extensively in Tallahassee, where he worked for Lt. Governor Buddy MacKay, the Florida Department of Commerce, and the Executive Office of the Governor, among others.
McClellan’s talk to the FPRA Pensacola chapter will focus on using public relations to influence public policy.
Networking begins at 11:45 a.m. followed by lunch at noon preceding the program. Cost, including lunch, is $10 for students, $12 for members and $14 for non-members. Reservations are appreciated by Monday, June14 to rsvp@fprapensacola.org.
